This is a biography / documentary about Leadbelly and since it's length i had to cut it in two episodes. In Part two we take a look on Leadbelly's life when and after he met John Lomax, the folklorist. Amazing story, i love it and i hope you like it too even tough i read it myself to you.
I'm not any music professional, i just love history and music too and making this was both fun and interesting. All the information on the video i have googled from different sources, impossible to remember them all but im not trying to own their writings, i have only mixed them to create one full story. I narriate the film myself so please forgive me if my english is not clear to understand in every part of the video. I'm maybe adding subtitles later so it's easier to watch. I could have inserted motion picture cuts on the video but since my slow computer freezed every time i tried to do that, i made decision to put only still pictures on this film. But the story is very interesting, i hope you like it, took me a few days to make this.

he really did have, i've just started reading books after many years, i try to order a new book every month. next month is coming book of Lightnin Hopkins and Leadbelly, there must be tons of interesting things i could not get to this short doc.

thank you! yes, one of the most interesting people from the american folk/blues scene.. there are many full lenght books written 'bout him but those are very rare here in Finland like all the books about blues men. When i got trhe money im gonna order some great books from US or where ever they need to be ordered.. :)

Glad I watched this. A well written and well illustrated essay. A lot of interesting details and episodes from an often grandly dramatic life.

Wow that was really written... I've already seen 2 documentaries about Leadbelly and the communists but I still didn't know half the info you provided, I even didn't know that the pianist accompanying Leadbelly was Harry the Hipster, that's really cool
I hope you do more of these
