I'm a big fan of Gumiho and it's true that Koreans, more often in their films, don't worry too much about how they look on screen. It can look incredibly real and emotional, although I wouldn't use Gumiho (or most dramas) as an example of that.
But trust me, that country is EXTREMELY superficial. Possibly the most in the entire world. Just spend some time watching their commercials between dramas. It's shocking.
India needs a lot of work tho. We need Korean quality dramas, especially.
