@babelentertainment thats a totally wacko conspiracy theory. the entire Soviet early space program has been declassified for many years. every single member of the cosmonaut training team etc is perfectly well known to hundreds of people. Ilyushin never was one.

To really find a solid evidence from the 60's in Russia is almost impossible, however they are two films ( British and Russian) and many articles where one can try to understand what was going on behind 'The Iron curtain" so add after youtube those links :/watch?v=7npNk3EGKBQ;

@babelentertainment Everything in this film was shot and recorded over the summer of 2011, and very little footage of it is actually from Gagarin's flight - hence, its a recreation. Likewise, if you have solid evidence of anyone else being in space before Gagarin, show me.

@TheMoonchild1969 I was also a "cold war child" - but I could never understand why we were so afraid of the Russians. I started studying Russian in an effort to understand, and when I became a journalist I jumped on an opportunity to travel to the Soviet Union and live there for 2 years. I loved the Russians. I still have very close friends in Russia. They love their children just as much as we love ours. Don't listen to government propaganda machines and lying media!
