As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die.

For me this says that humainity's the fear of death is deaths greatest weapon. I thinks it's relevent beyond christianity and also of any other religion, it just uses a specific example. Universal message, so well told put together and absolutely enjoyable and thought provoking.

I think a full length film wouldn't really be necessary, to be honest. This was just perfect the way it was. Short, pretty self explanatory but still leaves the viewer with theories and questions. I particular love the design of the Undertaker--a dottery old man on a bike, and not the typical hood and scythe, but massive black wings. Very original, perfect character designs; they manage to be humorous but also dark and revolting. It's perfect, just perfect.

Another Idea Maybe if they were killed off one at a time and the question of "whose next" could always occur in their mind. Hence the phases of death. At first people deny the undertaker is there, people get mad at the undertaker, the people plead with the undertaker, the town enters a depression. After a while the church bells call and the town resumes their lives, they know the undertakers there... and have accepted his presence

Im not really sure how anyone could extend this. Its pretty much a masterpiece in and of itself. But if your looking for ideas, maybe have different towns that the "Undertaker" Visits, exploring the different ideas of death, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. Blackwater is pretty much rounded. In a few short seconds you know who the characters and their motivations are, adding more to blackwater would probably ruin the feel and effect this short had

death is unavoidable. We are creatures that fear the unknown. If I die tomorow and if the Angel of Death is there to great me then I'll take his hand without any complaints. I've had about 19 years on this earth. Sure it's a short time I agree, but at least I made it this far (and plan on making it another 81 years) and have respected every second.

of course the concept's demonized. It still doesn't take away from the whole theocracy aspect of having an institution scare people into obeying, men controlling other men. You can argue that religion does good but it's pretty clear to me that humans are inherently good without religion. Then compare all the war and hatred that comes from religion.
There's a good chance you're against gays' rights. I find it as appalling as what happens in this video.

Real Christianity is not like this at all; the idea of 'killing the bad apple' is blatant rubbish,as is having a 'holier than thou' attitude . This animation was more about conceptuals than specifics- they just borrowed bits from Christianity because a lot of people have a very twisted,inaccurate view of it,making it easy to exploit.
The film itself has to do with psycological ideals: That following a corrupted leader will lead you to paranoia and ruin,and the wicked will do themselves in.
