I remember watching these greats along with others on my parents B&W. Great being an understatement as W.C. had his own unique style. Never drank less than a quart before breakfast.

You make an interesting point: viz., how ignorance is below stupidity. However, at least with ignorance there is hope, no? What I mean is ignorance can be readily cured by educating oneself and learning. In contrast, stupidity is oh-so durable--if one lacks the basic "gray matter" for profound or careful thought, well, it's rather hard to acquire such ability. And, yes, ignorant people can be annoying, but what about people who repeat the same post? (Just kidding!)

Why does it not surprise me one iota that someone who thought Gore invented the Internet or is moronic enough to repeat the misquote also thinks W.C Fields had ANYTHING to do with TV, short of a script device in The Big Broadcast of 1938. When you IGNORE the truth & the people who do know it, willingly, you are IGNORANT, one step lower than STUPID. But there IS a growing disease among the weak that strips them of embarrassment & the desire to appear stupid in public.
