Award winning unofficial prequel to The Lord Of The Rings dramatising Aragorn & Gandalf's long search for Gollum directed by British filmmaker Chris Bouchard. Based faithfully on the appendices of the books this is a non-profit, serious homage to the writing of J.R.R Tolkien and the films of Peter Jackson.
It was shot on locations in England and Snowdonia with a team of over a hundred people working over the Internet. It took two years to make and was released as a non-profit Internet-only video by agreement with Tolkien Enterprizes.
This Youtube version is slightly extended with 1 scene added back in.

I liked it, its filling in some missing info on film. Tolkien was a detailed writer and there is alot in the LOTR movies, but this added even more. Great job by the Chris Bouchard group.

That was really well done :D The location shots and sets were particularly good, and when that one orc died it was really a pretty gruesome and good fight. And I loved Gollum! Especially whining and flailing in the sack. Like definitely share :) can't believe I didn't know about this.

Frankly, I don't like it. Aragorn seems half-asleep the entire time. He lacks the intensity that I see when I read the books. But as a true LOTR fan, I have to appreciate it. For 3,000 dollars, this is spectacular. The special effects are certainly less than average, but what can one expect? Guys, focus on the plot and how it relates to events that occur afterwards. Thank you for making this, Chris.

ppss- so go watch the making of if you do not lik ethis film- you then will and if you see it and knwthings like how entire film was made completed for 3,000 dollars!!! or how not one cast or actor crew was paid all made this as fan film out of love for lotr trilogy middle earth tolkien and lotr trilogy characters- so if you know these things and still hate on this film ? somethin very very wrong with you and your judgement but i fail to see how any true lotr fan could hate on this ! 3 grand!?!
