Oh dear. They actually discuss how much they laughed or didn't laugh at a perceived joke. This doesn't bode well for these two.
Actually, I like how much time the story is willing to spend on silly details like the awkward, too cheery, mildly fond relationship the main couple has with their friends; who gets the divan, etc. It makes everything seem more human and filled out; not just threatened characters in service of a plot.

I used to watch this series back in 1984 when I was twelve. They shit me up proper back then - in fact this episode still does!
