Again, looking at an interview of him from 1972, he looks about 15-20 years older than he does here.

Are you sure this is 1970? This is black and white and appears to be from the late 50's...

Master if suspense, indeed! He also is the master of manipulating, soliciting emotions from the audience. Same as Steven Spielberg and his ability to manipulate the audiences emotions. Amazing guys!

Have you guys seen the other 9-11 youtube video titled, "Proof that 9/11 was an inside job!!!!! " ? (Search Youtube.com using the quoted title to see the video. Hint: Cut and Paste the title from here.) That ones says there was no airplanes involved. However, that one sounds like it was made by 2012 a.d. C.I.A. Director Patreaus. New interesting comment posts there too.

seth5220 - 10.2.2012 19:52:48
He would. My family and I were watching South By Southwest and it was pretty gripping for a movie from 1959.
globehunter2 - 30.1.2012 16:16:59
Sadly many directors think shock and awe makes a good movie. But this is totally
inacurrate, its the suspense that holds a audience and creates a visual image not
scene on the screen.Alfred Hitchcock would be apalled at movie making of today.
He was truly a remarkable man and a brilliant film maker.

Listening to Hitchcock speak, it makes me a film student and aspiring director/screenwriter realize just how much i have to learn.

He's gotta a point about the differences, but I like to think mystery and suspense are the Ebony and Ivory of literature.
ShardsOfGlassCeiling - 17.11.2011 6:39:20
I'd say To Catch a Thief.

In a way, you're right, there is mystery in suspense, but it is possible to have no suspense in mystery. For instance, working out the 'w' questions of a scene (who, what, where, why etc) is not emotive alone, but when these directly effect the emotional stakes towards the character, that's when it become suspense. Hitch is distinguishing the two to cease the common confusion that mystery alone is as emotionally effective as suspense. I'd love to know what you think!

which film does he consider his only "who done it?"
cheeriosinabowl - 8.8.2011 18:39:25
To me, mystery and suspense go hand in hand.
